Overview
Andy Gears, creator of the PrayerMate app and founder of the charity Discipleship Tech, finally launched his new mobile game called "The Serpent and the Seed" this year, after years of work and nearly 20 years of dreaming about it.
The game follows a dystopian story where an owl and a robin (yes, it’s 2 birds, not a superhero and sidekick) discover the last copy of the Bible and believe it contains the answers to their broken world.
The game aims to engage both Christians and non-Christians with the Bible's overall, big-picture narrative and uses some of the most creative storytelling I’ve ever come across (especially the plagues of Egypt scene - you’ll love it!).
Sprinkled with humour and gushing with beauty, each chapter of the game lasts about 25 minutes and encourages time for you to stop playing and reflect on what you’ve heard.
It is designed to be emotionally engaging and relaxing and includes original music by Poor Bishop Hooper.
While I played this with my 7 year old, she struggled to read fast enough and got a bit stuck in places so really it’s for 9 years and older. Designed for both adults and young people, 11-15s have responded really well and it could be used in group outreaches.
